Tool
A band that is hard to categorize, and harder still to see them all playing together, Tool’s latest effort 10,000 Days has taken them back out on the road. It has taken five years between albums and they have all taken time away from their individual projects to tour America and Europe (forty-five shows confirmed!).
Tour dates have been announced! Sydney on 24th January, 2007, and Melbourne on 31st January, 2007.
P.S. Now we can not help but notice that is around about the same time that the Big Day Out Festival plays…hopefully some more (side?) shows will be announced soon. Join the waitlist and we will let you know!

The Flaming Lips
Formed in the early 80s it was more than ten years later before The Flaming Lips managed to have a moderately popular hit with "She Don’t Use Jelly" in 1993. Since then they have released five more albums and managed to keep their fans and the music industry amused and captivated. Their ideas included the release of Zaireeka a four disc set that needs to be played in four different CD players at the same time and their "parking lot experiments" and then later, "boom box experiments" in which 40 volunteers played cassette tapes in their cars at varying speeds and volumes as directed by the band. The last time The Flaming Lips were in the country they won over many a fan with their performance and stage antics; animal suits, giant balloons and confetti and we think they will be due back here soon. Hybrid
It's been three years since Hybrid's last record - and the boys have delivered with I Choose Noise, released September 4, 2006. Following on from their symphonic progressive house album, Wide Angle in 1999, Hybrid supported Moby around the US for his live tour in 2000. Three years later, Morning Sci-Fi was released, sparking a deeper and darker sound, as well as a few new names on board including Adam Taylor and Tim Hutton, as well as New Order's Peter Hook. Over their career, and three studio albums, Hybrid have collaborated with many artists including Chrissie Hynde, Kirsty Hawkshaw, Julee Cruise and the 90-piece Russian Federal Orchestra, fusing genres and vocalists creating cinematic soundscapes.
A name heard often on lineups for electronic music festivals world-wide, Hybrid mainly appear in the form of DJ sets, rather than live music, such as Two Tribes in 2004. But with their growing musician base, it's only a matter of time until Hybrid's embark of a tour of their own - like their performance at the Coachella Valley Music Festival in April 2006.
Hybrid have a confirmed dates down under - heading to Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and the Gold Coast. You heard this at eventCLUB first - the latest news direct from their international booker!
- Sunday 31st December - New Years Eve - Chinese Laundry, Sydney (DJ Set)
- Monday 1st January - Fielday Sydney (Live)
- Monday 1st January - Summadayze Melbourne (Live)
- Friday 5th January - Chinese Laundry Sydney (DJ Set) - Saturday 6th January - Summafieldayze Gold Coast (Live)
- Sunday 7th January - Summadayze Perth (Live)

Nelly Furtado
Canadian born, Portuguese raised Nelly Furtado first burst on the charts in 2000 with her single "I’m Like A Bird" from the album Whoa Nelly. The album earned her a couple of Grammy nominations and she went on to release her second album, Folklore in 2003. Three years later and with what seems to be an incredible image change Nelly has released her third album, Loose a blend of music and sounds with a splash of hip hop and she is set to tour the globe. Rumored to be called the Loose Ends Tour because "it’s all the things I've always wanted to do in a show," Nelly will be packing up her musical bag and promises "to bring the fans a unique package of all my stuff — from my Latin music to my Spanish music to my Portuguese music to my hip-hop music to my pop music, in a fusion with movement and visuals. I love theater. I love drama". Join our eventWAITLIST so that you can be in the know!

The Mars Volta
Formed after the "indefinite hiatus" of At The Drive In, The Mars Volta has managed to pick up from where they left off and give a little more. Still headed by the incredibly and distinctive vocals of Cedric Bixler-Zavala, The Mars Volta are musicians with a difference. With strong lyrics and politically aware messages the band incorporates a lot of unusual instruments into their rock line up including clarinets, flutes and saxophone. Sometimes referred to as prog rock, the eight piece is due to return to Australia and tour their latest album; Amputechture, and after their awesome Big Day Out performances earlier this year, the crowds are stirring.

- Saturday 2nd December - Festival Hall, Melbourne

Weezer
Since the release of their self-titled 1994 debut album Weezer have always managed to make a blip on the musical radar. The Los Angeles based four piece have made lasting impressions with their up tempo and merry songs and their quirky video clips. The hits, which have spanned over four albums, include The Sweater Song, Buddy Holly, and Keep Fishin’. Their appeal has not diminished over the years and we think they will be heading our way soon enough. Their latest album Beverly Hills has already made a start on the charts and some great tours across the U.S have followed. BT
If you have never heard of BT (Brian Transeau) chances are you actually have heard him. Since the mid 90’s the music-school-drop-out has been winning audiences over with his electronic music (with singles including 'Remember', 'Never Gonna Come Back Down', 'Dreaming' and 'Somnabulist') and has composed a number of film scores with a diverse range of musical genres including Gone in 60 Seconds, Go, Monster and Stealth. His genius (reportedly an IQ of 170) and flair for music, sound and electronic scores has even been immortalized, he has a particular edit function named him, the BT Stutter, a unique 64th stutter. His fifth album, 'This Binary Universe', has just been released, marking new and bold experimental territory in the electronic genre, and has been quoted as being "the first major electronic work of the new millennium". Following this August release, BT heads off for a tour of the US performing "This Binary Universe".
We have seen BT twice recently - in 2004 for Two Tribes, and in 2005 for Godskitchen, both times performing with is innovative and unique Laptop Symphony. His sixth as yet unnamed album is due out in the next couple of months and we think he is heading to Australia again. Join the eventWAITLIST now and get your groove on!

Jet
The year 2003 will long be remembered for the fast charting albums that burst out of nowhere; a part of that was Melbourne band Jet. Brothers Nic (vocals) brother Chris Cester (drums) joined up with mates Cameron Muncey (guitar) and Mark Wilson (bass) and formed the band in 2002. A year later their debut album Get Born had the hits rolling out with the singles Look What You’ve Done, Roll Over DJ, Cold Hard Bitch and the Triple J Hottest 100 number one, Are You Gonna Be My Girl. Their journey to complete the much anticipated and hyped second album was overshadowed by the death of Nic and Chris’s father. The album Shine On (due for release in September) and the single of the same name are dedicated to him. The band is due back in Australia to do a couple of small shows before doing some international dates and we are sure they will be here again in no time so join the waitlist and get ready to rock!

Dixie Chicks
Hailing from Texas, the Dixie Chicks are a country music and political force to be reckoned with. Originally starting in 1990 and having limited success with their first two albums sisters Emily Robison and Martie Maguire refined their act and recruited Natalie Maines as lead vocalist. Their luck changed and their 1998 album "Wide Open Spaces” and its singles "There's Your Trouble", "Wide Open Spaces” and “You Were Mine” launched their particular country musical style into mainstream chart lists. Three albums later, a political gaffe about a certain president (“Just so you know, we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas’) the Dixie Chicks are still uniting and dividing audiences. Their latest album, Taking The Long Way and the current single “Not Ready To Make Nice” about a particular ‘incident’ proves their distinctive musical style and sound is no accident.

The most successful female artist ever, a lady referred to by her first name Madonna is set to tour the globe again. Unfortunately, Australia isn't on the list, with this official message from Madonna:
"To my fans in Australia
Please forgive me. I really did hope and expect to come to Australia during the Confessions Tour and asked my managers to try to include some shows there. I have fond memories from previous tours. Unfortunately, the logistics just didn't work out this time around. We looked into going from Japan to Australia and ending the show there but I have to get my kids back into school in England and they are, as you can understand, my most important priority. The important thing to remember is that I'm not retiring anytime soon and I am gonna get to Australia as soon as I can. You remain in my heart and Thank you for your continued love & support.

The album which was mostly recorded in coffee houses was a critical success and stayed in the charts for two years peaking at number four. In that time she has also managed to start a couple of charities and write two books. Gorillaz
Animated group, The Gorillaz, have scrapped initial plans for their world tour due to financial issues. The Gorillaz performed one of their first 'live' performances at the 48th Grammy Awards with Madonna earlier this month which cost a staggering US$1.5million to bring the characters to life.
One half of the team behind the Gorillaz - Jamie Hewlett - recently said of the tour, "We're just not gonna be able to do a proper tour. We've tried really hard to work out a way but the costs would be just astronomical."
Meanwhile the Gorillaz new album 'Demon Days' has reached three times Platinum in Australia and the band will be releasing their first live DVD in stores March 25.
